Writing Explanation Pt. 2: Crafting a Well-Written Explanation

A well-written explanation is crafted in a way that is clear for the reader to understand. The claim(s), reasoning and evidence that you include in your explanation must be organized using appropriate writing conventions. In this module, you will learn how to craft a well-written explanation so that readers will have a clear understanding of your ideas.

Module Objectives

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

• Develop an explanation that includes a claim(s), appropriate facts, examples and other information to support the claim(s) and reasoning that, together, clearly explains the topic.
• Use appropriate transitions to connect ideas and concepts.
• Incorporate appropriate domain-specific vocabulary when explaining the topic.
• Establish and maintain a formal style and objective tone.
• Develop a conclusion that supports the explanation.
