Knowing how to write a summary that includes the central idea and important evidence is a key skill for scientists to have. Equally important is the skill of analysis. Scientific writers must be able to analyze the content, and also analyze how the author presents the content, by examining the quality of the evidence provided. In order to analyze an article or other scientific text, consider if the evidence provided is significant, relevant and verifiable.
