Answer: The author effectively uses the cause-and-effect text structure throughout much of the article in order to share the dangerous and destructive nature of tsunamis. The author is able to reveal how the waves form, their size, and the speed of the waves while also showing the impact of these features of tsunamis. Near the end of the article, the author switches to a problem-and-solution structure in order to show the reader that scientists and researchers can gather information about a tsunami ahead of time in order to solve the problems and avoid potential destruction of a tsunami.
